Frequently Asked Questions
Deluxe Junior Suite Ocean View FAQs
What does the Deluxe Junior Suite Ocean View look out on?
As the name says, the suite faces the ocean. Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya Resort & Spa sits directly on the beach along a stretch of Akumal coast with several small curving bays, so the outlook is toward the Caribbean rather than the gardens or the resort's inland areas.
How are the beds arranged and how many people does the suite sleep?
The suite has one bedroom with 1 King or 2 Double Beds, and a double-size sofa bed in the living space. In total it sleeps up to 5 guests in 559 sq. ft. A free crib is available for families with infants.
Is this suite a good choice for families?
Yes. Along with the sleeping capacity for five and the free crib, the resort is family-friendly, with a free Sirenios Kids Club for ages 4 to 12, a teen club, and a children's pool in the Kids Club area. Guests under 18 cannot use the spa, apart from special Kids SPA treatments.
What is the bathroom like?
The private bathroom has a jetted bathtub and a separate bathtub and shower. It is stocked with bathrobes, slippers, designer toiletries, shampoo, soap and a hair dryer, so a soak after a day at the beach is easy.
What is in the minibar, and what else is in the room?
The minibar is stocked and free, and bottled water is complimentary. The room also has a 50-inch smart TV with cable channels and Netflix, a coffee and tea maker, a desk, an iron and ironing board, and air conditioning with blackout drapes. Housekeeping comes daily with turndown service.
What is included in the rate for this suite?
The all-inclusive plan covers buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner with house wine by the glass, unlimited à la carte themed dinners by reservation, 24-hour snacks, and domestic and select international drinks from 9 AM to 2 AM. Non-motorized water sports (kayak and snorkeling, 1 hour per guest per day) are included too. Room service runs roughly 11 AM to 11 PM, and some items cost extra.
Do I need to reserve the à la carte restaurants?
Yes. The themed à la carte restaurants, such as Tonino (Italian), Lima (Peruvian), Oishii (Pan-Asian), Bazaar (Mediterranean) and Butchers (steakhouse), work by reservation and subject to availability. Dinner is served 5:45–9:15 PM with a smart-casual dress code. Booking on the day you arrive is a good idea. The buffets The Park and La Verbena do not need a booking.
Is the resort better for couples or families, and is there a quiet area?
It works for both. Couples have a quiet adults-only pool (though guest reviews say the under-18 rule is not always enforced), the adults-only Carnal fine-dining restaurant, and a spa with couples' treatment rooms. There is no adults-only section on the beach. Spa treatments are booked ahead and may cost extra.
How far is the resort from the airport, and what else should I know before booking?
The resort is in Akumal, about 60–90 minutes' drive from Cancún International Airport, and roughly midway between Playa del Carmen and Tulum. Check-in begins at 3:00 PM and check-out is at noon. A resort usage fee of $10 USD per person per stay applies, payable by credit card, plus local taxes. Sargassum has at times affected the beach, so it is worth checking conditions near your travel dates.
